The President’s Council on Physical Fitness must be taking Arnold’s live by example seriously. Their newly released guidelines on fitness for kid’s 9-15 includes some pretty intense stuff. They recommend children begin each day with some type of exercise. They further say that exercise sessions should be at least 30 minutes long and include at least 20 minutes of activity strenuous enough to make them sweat. Fortunately, they also include advice about warm-up and cool downs. Finally, they tell kids to eat more fruits, vegetables and fibers and to reduce fat.
So what do kid’s today think of exercise? Information released by the President’s Council on Physical Fitness included survey results showing that only 59% of the 9-15 year old group thought that physical activity was fun. C’mon parents…..join in and show the kid’s what it’s all about!
