America is getting fatter.
How about the news released in early February that every year Americans are getting fatter by percentage points. Currently, 75% of all Americans are overweight and a full 25% are so overweight that they are classified as obese.
How can this be happening with all those low and no fat foods available? Dr. Barbara Rolls from the very prestigious Johns Hopkins Hospital has one answer. Her research shows that when people are given reduced fat or non fat versions of their favorite foods, they immediately begin to consume more carbohydrates. More interestingly, this happens even when they haven’t been told that the foods contain less fat. Odd but true.
