Pyridoxine (Vitamin B-6) is one of the B-Complex vitamins necessary for the breakdown and absorption of amino acids, the building blocks of protein. Pyridoxine also aids in fat and carbohydrate metabolism, helps in the formation of antibodies; maintains a healthy central nervous system; aids in the removal of excess fluid of premenstrual women; promotes healthy skin; reduces muscle spasms, leg cramps, and numbness and stiffness; fights nausea; and helps maintain a proper balance of sodium and phosphorous electrolytes.
A deficiency of Pyridoxine may result in a host of problems including nervousness, insomnia, skin disorders, loss of muscular control, anemia, muscular weakness, cramps, loss of hair, slow learning, and/or water retention.
